AI TMS vs traditional TMS: what actually changes

An AI TMS is a transport management system that reads the unstructured messages around the plan, such as e-mails, WhatsApp and Telegram updates, detects order and stop changes, and proposes the plan update for a dispatcher to approve. A traditional TMS only stores what a planner types into it, so every change is still read and re-keyed by hand.

Both systems plan routes and print invoices. The difference is what happens to the hundred messages a day that change the plan.

Why change now

Your TMS is a spreadsheet with a login. It stores. It never acts.

Traditional transport systems were built to record what a planner already decided. Every message still has to be read by a human, every change still typed in by hand. That was acceptable when there was no alternative. AI is the alternative: for the first time, software can read the inbox, understand the operation and do the work. A TMS that cannot is a filing cabinet with a monthly fee.

A traditional TMS

  1. Waits for a planner to type in what a driver said on WhatsApp twenty minutes ago
  2. Shows the plan as it was this morning, not as the day actually unfolds
  3. Treats a sick driver, a breakdown or a moved slot as your problem to re-key
  4. Answers customers only when someone finds time to look it up and reply

An AI TMS

  1. Reads every driver, customer and carrier message itself, in any language they write
  2. Keeps one live plan that changes as the day does, with the message that changed it attached
  3. Registers the absence, reassigns the routes, sends the replacement truck and informs everyone
  4. Answers status and document requests in seconds; brings the planner only the decision that needs one

AI TMS questions, answered

What is the difference between an AI TMS and a traditional TMS?

A traditional TMS stores and plans what people type into it. An AI TMS also reads the unstructured messages around the plan, detects changes and proposes updates, with a human approving each one.

Does an AI TMS remove the dispatcher?

No. The dispatcher stops re-keying and starts deciding. Every proposed change is reviewed and approved by a person, and routine changes run automatically only within limits you set.

Can I keep my spreadsheet workflow?

The freyt.ai plan board keeps the speed and directness of a sheet, adds capacity and driver-hour checks, and removes the copying between intake, plan and invoice.

Do I need to replace my current TMS to use freyt.ai?

Exchange works alongside any TMS and is free. The freyt.ai TMS and Mission Control replace the planning and invoicing system; connectors keep your ERP and portals in place.

How does an AI TMS keep data safe?

Mission Control reads only the channels you connect, links messages to your own orders and never shares customer details outside your company. Every change is logged with who approved it.
